Superocean Stainless Steel AB2010

This is a pre-owned Breitling Superocean men's watch reference AB2010. It has a 42.00mm case size in stainless steel, with dial on a black rubber bracelet, powered by an automatic movement. This Breitling is in excellent condition complete with Breitling Box, Manuals, Officers Log Book , Photos & Guarantee dated 4th March 2022. Our reference is COM003472 should you need to quote this.

The watch is a Special Edition Breitling Superocean Heritage II B20 c.2022 (42mm).

It is the 5th of only 40 produced for members of the Specialist Firearms Command (MO19), who are also affectionately known as “The Trojans of London”.

MO19 are the elite armed response unit of the Metropolitan Police who deal with armed robberies, hostage situations and terrorist attacks.

Its former owner is a serving member of MO19. Interestingly, he was one of the first responders to the 2017 Westminster Terrorist Attack. Some prominent pictures of him at the scene were distributed by the mainstream media at the time of the attack.

The dial of the watch is particularly pleasing and features the number 19 in roman numerals (XIX) below the Breitling logo, a Trojan head and yellow “19” marker on the chapter ring. All these subtle additions signify it to have been specially designed and produced for MO19.

Apparently, it took two years for Breitling to produce the watch, and its former owner and their colleagues helped to design the dial. One initial idea was to make the number 19 in the calendar window yellow. However, this idea was soon abandoned as you would only get to see it once a month! The yellow “19” marker on the chapter ring was then suggested by Breitling as a more suitable alternative to this.

All Metropolitan Police Armed Response Vehicles have a yellow circular sticker in the window to signify they are armed, and I believe this is why the colour yellow was used in the design of the dial.

The markings to the reverse of the case back are also unique to the watch and include the owners name and shoulder number. Their name and number have been obscured in the attached photo.

The watch comes with its original box and papers together with a file containing photos of its original owner, a signed letter of provenance and original order details for the watch.
