Description

In the world of watches, anniversaries come and go. Very few of them are genuinely meaningful, but this is one of them. The Langematik Anniversary ref. 302.025 was released in 2000 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the brand's re-founding. It celebrated a notable milestone - few companies make it past the first few years, but even fewer achieved the spectacular success that A. Lange & Sohne did. In its 10 years of existence, it disrupted a centuries-old Swiss monopoly on fine watchmaking by becoming a formidable competitor to the likes of Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin.

It's only fitting that the watch that Lange created for this anniversary was a special one. It was outside of the existing model families, taking inspiration from a pocket watch. The dial is made from enamel - a notoriously difficult material to work with due to its fragility - and is topped of by an eye-catching red "XII". Most Lange watches are all about the exquisite movement, but this one has a dial to match.

Speaking of which, the Langematik movement is also a beautiful sight. While Lange is known for hand-wound movements, the Langematik is no afterthought. It has an offset rotor made from solid gold which lets the craftsmanship of the watchmakers shine, while also featuring a zero-reset mechanism which resets the seconds hand to zero every time the crown is pulled out to make accurate time-setting even easier.
