Tissot Le Locle

Tissot's Le Locle collection got its name from the location of the manufacturer's headquarters in Switzerland. This collection offers a wide range of men's and women's watches that boast an unmistakably classic design thanks to narrow leaf hands, applied Roman numerals, and guilloché dials. Alongside standard three-hand watches, you'll also find watches with regulator displays, small seconds dials, and chronograph functionality.

Tissot crafts all Le Locle watches from stainless steel, alternating between matte and polished surfaces. You can also take your pick from timepieces with a rose gold or yellow gold PVD coating.

This collection is powered exclusively by automatic calibers from Swiss movement manufacturer ETA, which keep the watches ticking for up to 80 hours. The premium models are chronometer certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). You can watch the movements in action through a double sapphire glass window located on the beautifully decorated caseback.

Prices for three-hand Le Locle watches start at around 440 USD. Models with small seconds are slightly more expensive, and can demand between 460 and 570 USD. The men's watches in the Le Locle Automatique series are 39 mm across, while women can choose between diameters of 25 or 29 mm. Tissot offers all three case sizes in stainless steel, with golden PVD coating, or in a two-tone design. As for the two-tone watches, it is generally the bezel, crown, and middle links of the stainless steel bracelet that have a golden PVD coating.

Most watches with a standard display for hours, minutes, and seconds have a dial with guilloché details in the center. Tissot also offers an array of hour marker styles, all of which are applied: Roman numerals lend the dial a degree of elegance, while dials with Arabic numerals have a more modern charm. The 39-mm Le Locle is powered by ETA's Powermatic 80.111. This movement offers a power reserve of 80 hours and has a date display at 3 o'clock. Le Locle Petite Seconde: Small Seconds Subdial

Tissot also offers the 39-mm Le Locle with a small seconds subdial. On the current edition of the Le Locle Automatique Petite Seconde, the second hand rotates on a subdial at 6, while the date window is at 3 o'clock. However, you'll also find older versions of the watch with the date at 9 and the small seconds subdial at 5 o'clock. The ETA 2825 ticks inside both of these stainless steel watches, offering a 38-hour power reserve. The dials are either coated in black lacquer or have a silver sunburst finish.

Le Locle Power Reserve

Le Locle models powered by the ETA caliber 2897 belonged to the collection up until a few years ago, and offer the wearer a power reserve indicator. It takes the form of a half-moon at 7 o'clock and lets you know you when you'll need to move the watch again to prevent it from stopping.

The basic design of the Le Locle Power Reserve is otherwise the same as the Le Locle with the standard, central time display.

The Le Locle Regulateur has a special place in the collection. As you might have guessed from the name, Tissot designed these watches as traditional regulators.

The central hand displays the minutes. The hours, however, are read from a subdial at 12 o'clock. The small seconds are located at 6 o'clock, and the date holds its rightful position at 9 o'clock. The ETA caliber 2825-2, which has a 42-hour power reserve, powers these watches.

You can buy Le Locle Regulateur models with black or silver dials. You can also choose from models with a polished stainless steel case, rose gold PVD coating, or two-tone models on which the bezel, crown, and center links of the bracelet have a yellow gold PVD coating.

The Le Locle collection also offers timepieces with a chronograph function called the Le Locle Valjoux Chronograph. The name is a reference to the ETA/Valjoux caliber 7750, a classic movement in the chronograph category. This caliber has been powering watches from numerous manufacturers since 1973.

The design of the Le Locle Valjoux Chronograph is heavily inspired by the standard Le Locle, with its guilloché-like details in the center of the dial and Roman numerals. However, the stainless steel case has a diameter of 42 mm and is thus significantly larger. In addition, you'll notice that the watch has three subdials at the usual positions thanks to the Valjoux 7750: the small seconds dial is found at 9 o'clock, the minute counter is at 12, and the hour counter sits at 6 o'clock. A window for the day of the week and the date at 3 o'clock rounds off the display.

The Locle Valjoux Chronograph comes with either a black or silver dial. Paired with a leather strap, these timepieces cost around 1,200 USD on Chrono24. If you'd rather have your chronograph on a stainless steel bracelet, expect prices around the 1,300 USD mark.
