Elisabeth’s $24,000 Watch Collection

We began this series at the start of the year with Sebastian and his perfect $24,000 watch collection. The synchronicity of Chrono24 in 2024 and a collection worth $24,000 was simply too tempting. Today, I’m happy to present my own collection, but I admit it was no easy task. In the end, I decided on five watches. Three of them are familiar faces for many, and my final pick is a bit of fun. So, let’s dive in.

Cartier Tank Solo – $5,000

First, I have to say that I prefer smaller watches. If you’re searching for a timepiece larger than 36 mm in this collection, you’ll be disappointed. However, I will never be disappointed by the Cartier Tank Solo ref. 3168.

The Cartier Tank is an absolute classic – an icon that combines elegance and history in a timeless design that can be worn by both men and women. I discovered this Tank Solo at Chrono24. It immediately caught my eye when I was shooting reels for our social media channels. It’s simple, refined, and represents the perfect understatement for me. I particularly like the interplay between the rose-colored 24 x 31 mm case and brown leather strap. In contrast to a Cartier worn on a link bracelet, which I find less appealing, this combination radiates warmth. According to the Chrono24 Watch Collection, this model is available for around $5,000. This is the watch in my fictional collection that I feel most drawn to, and one that I would never tire of wearing (if I owned it).

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades – $6,500

Following on from my dress watch, things are taking a sportier turn, although this version of the Omega Seamaster still retains a touch of elegance. The Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Shades is available in sizes of 34 and 38 mm and in a number of colorful variants. I am particularly taken with the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M ref. 220.10.34.20.09.001 with a sandstone-colored dial. It’s the model with a 34-mm case (sorry, not sorry).

For me, this watch stands out with its sunburst dial, which adds a certain softness to the metallic sheen. But it’s not just a visual highlight, it’s also technically impressive with Omega’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer caliber 8800. The stainless steel case and bracelet make it the ideal companion for both professional occasions and sporting activities. This variation of the Omega Seamaster is available on Chrono24 for around $6,500.

Rolex Datejust 36 – $11,000

Here’s where color comes into play: the Rolex Datejust 36 ref. 126234 with a mint green dial. This fresh and modern interpretation of another classic makes a lively statement with its eye-catching dial. This is complemented by indices filled with luminous material and a date display at 3 o’clock. I particularly like the contrast between the mint-colored dial and the stainless steel case and white gold fluted bezel. Paired with a Jubilee bracelet, this watch has an effortless aesthetic that is suitable for any occasion.

Prices for this model fluctuate significantly, but with a little patience and luck you can find this timepiece for around the $11,000 mark.

Piaget Protocole Stone Dial – $4,500

Let’s return to more refined waters: The fourth watch in my collection is the Piaget Protocole with a stone dial. I was originally searching for a jade dial that I’d discovered a few months ago while looking up images for one of Aaron’s articles. I could hardly believe that a dial made of stone could be so impressive, but the more research I did, the more my fascination grew.

The use of natural, raw materials in a watch is inspiring, which is why it’s a must in my collection! Whether with a green jade, blue lapis lazuli, or black onyx dial, the Piaget Protocole 9154 is something sublime. Of course, the rectangular shape and size (25 x 28 mm) also appeals to me. Expect to see prices starting at $4,500 for this watch. The attentive reader will have noticed that I have soared through my price limit, but nevertheless, I still have one watch for you.

Swatch “THE SIMPSONS COLLECTION” – $100

Come on, we’ve got to have a little fun, even if it puts me further over my $24,000 budget. Is this 34-mm Swatch a luxury watch? Not really. Does it bring some fun and color to the collection? Definitely! The plastic case and silicone strap make the watch not only lightweight and comfortable to wear, but also robust enough for everyday use. This quartz watch is available in various colors and motifs (from donuts to Christmas). My favorite is the purple variant featuring Lisa Simpson. A glance at the dial to check the time will certainly bring a smile to your face, as it does mine. And for $100, you can call the watch your own.

While I was never a die-hard Simpsons fan, I did watch the odd episode as a child. So maybe that’s what this timepiece reminds me of: my inner child and the fact that watches – like many things – can add a cheerful note to our lives.
