Good drinks, good watches, good people. What’s not to love? To help announce the launch of our new ChronoPulse watch market index, we decided to invite a few (hundred) friends to a special venue tucked away inside Manhattan’s Grand Central Station.
For one evening in October, many of New York’s most passionate watch collectors gathered in the heart of Manhattan to laugh, party, show off their collections, and take a few requisite wrist shots as well.
It was a celebration fit for the Big Apple, as Chrono24 took over the storied Campbell Apartment. The towering venue has been painstakingly restored to capture its original glamour from 1923, when Jazz Age financier John W. Campbell converted the space into his private office and reception hall. Watch collectors mingled under 25-foot-tall hand-painted ceilings and around the grand stone fireplace. After all, an elegant evening needs an equally elegant setting.
Chrono24 Co-CEO Tim Stracke opened the event with a press preview for the reporters in attendance, then the real party began.
Among the crowd that night were a few notable members of the global watch community. A few even helped advise the ChronoPulse development team as they built the comprehensive watch index tool. These include Eric Wind, founder of Wind Vintage; Jack Wong, the prolific watch collector and Singapore-based banker; and Dr. Brendan Cunningham, professor of economics and founder of Horolonomics.
Of course, there were also many amazing watches in the mix. We saw a few Patek Philippe World Timers, a vintage Tudor Submariner, an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with a tropical dial, a Little Lange 1, plenty of vintage Rolex watches, a pair of vintage Bulova Accutrons, and more chronographs than you could count in 60 seconds.

What is ChronoPulse?
ChronoPulse is the proprietary new watch index tool by Chrono24 that tracks the development of the global luxury watch market using real-time sales data from the world’s largest marketplace for luxury watches. Based on more than 600,000 transactions and validated by industry experts, ChronoPulse analyzes the performance of the 14 watch brands – and 140 watch models – with the highest transaction volume on the secondary market. With ChronoPulse, watch lovers now have more market data than ever before.
Using the sales data of over 4.6 million data points, ChronoPulse gives incomparable transparency to sales trends and provides the most realistic representation of the market. The price index also uses a mix of new and used watches, as well as different variants for each reference. We want to share this valuable information with our community, so you can make better decisions when buying, and to help you to understand the ever-changing watch market.
To build ChronoPulse, Chrono24 uses its own anonymous first-party sales data to drive this indexing. The use of actual sales data – not just asking prices – is what sets ChronoPulse above the competition.
The data of the index is updated daily, and the selection and weighting of the individual manufacturers and watch models is updated and adjusted every 6 months. ChronoPulse will continue to improve and expand in the coming months and years, with specialized sub-indexes planned for the future. If you’re curious to try it out for yourself, ChronoPulse is now live on Chrono24’s website and mobile app!
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our get-together in New York City! It was a lively night full of passionate people, tons of new friends, and even more amazing watches.
