Description
Demonstrating an uncompromising commitment to accuracy and reliability, the Master Tourbillon bears the unmistakable creative imprint of the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre. Its tourbillon regulator is accompanied by a high-precision movement equipped with a large balance oscillating at a cadence of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The watch also displays a second time zone as well as a date display adjustable in both directions and which jumps promptly from the 15th to the 16th so as not to hide the titanium tourbillon carriage from view.



The robustly-built titanium carriage in grade 5 titanium weighs a mere 0.28 grams and thus requires a smaller than usual amount of energy to operate, thereby further enhancing precision. The special alloy used to make it enables the craftsmen to decorate this carriage with hand-polished bevels.



So as not to hide the tourbillon carriage from view, the 15th and 16th date figures are placed on either side of the tourbillon aperture. An ingenious mechanism enables the hand to make this significantly larger jump between the two dates. Moreover, despite this horological complication, the date remains synchronized with the travel time zone and may thus jump either forwards or backwards.



The oscillating weight is made from a single block of 22-carat pink gold. The inscriptions are magnificently engraved in relief. The designers have created a dedicated opening enabling one to admire the tourbillon through the rotor.



Clear-cut lines and elegant shapes giving pride of place to functions: the Master Control collection returns to the fundamentals of the classic round watch. Epitomising the restrained style of the 1950s, it is the expression of a refined watchmaking tradition meticulously cultivated by Jaeger-LeCoultre. The Master Control models combine the aesthetic appeal of a great classic with technical performance illustrating the quality and reliability of the movements developed by Jaeger-LeCoultre. For almost 20 years, none have left the workshops of the Manufacture without meeting the stringent requirements imposed by the “1000 Hours Control” test, the only test that verifies the timekeeping performances of finished watches in real-life conditions.
